PILATES INSTRUCTOR
If you haven't heard of Pilates, you can't be an Angeleno. The key to this low-resistance stretching exercise is finding a teacher who won't let you get away with faking it. Donna Eshelman, the director of fitness and rehabilition at the Center for Physical Health, doesn't. She teaches personal sessions based on "the progressive techniques of fitness," which include not only Pilates but also Gyrotonic Expansion and the Feldenkrais Method. Whatever. All we know is that Eshelman believes that training twice a week (consistently) is all you need for stronger muscles and a sleeker, more balanced body.
